Epsom Speakers Club

Would you like to gain more confidence and learn to speak effectively at meetings or on social occasions?

Speaking in front of others with confidence is a skill and, as such, can be learned and developed. The challenge for most of us is finding a friendly and supportive environment in which to do so. Epsom Speakers Club offers just the right place.

We offer a relaxing and amusing environment for would-be speakers of all ages and from all backgrounds. Our members bring a wealth of experience to help you develop your speaking and analytical skills - with experience in the charity sector, retailing, business, IT and government. We are a diverse group - our ages range from 18 upwards and members come from many parts of the world, as well as the United Kingdom.

Epsom Speakers Club has assisted over 300 people in the past eight years to gain self-confidence and to develop their speaking, presentational and leadership skills. Currently, the club has forty members, eight of whom are elected to an Executive Committee to oversee the working and performance of the Club. The Club also works with Reed's School through the Toastmasters Youth Leadership Programme.

So, whether for business of pleasure, to make new friends or learn to make more effective presentations, we can assure you of a welcoming, entertaining and informative evening.

At Epsom Speakers Club you have the opportunity to join a structured programme which introduces in easy steps the skills you need to improve your ability to speak with confidence. Club meetings are designed to give as many members as possible the chance to stand and speak. Speaking opportunities vary from impromptu two minute speeches through to ten minute talks which are prepared in advance.

Each speech is evaluated by a Club member who provides constructive feedback and helpful suggestions so your speaking skills develop rapidly. You will also have the opportunity to evaluate other members' speeches. Evaluations are an essential part of the learning process as they encourage positive listening and develop your analytical skills. The Club also has a set programme of leadership projects and encourages members to pursue this track as well.

You are invited to choose your own mentor from among our more experienced speakers. Through time you could become an advanced speaker able to rise to your feet at any meeting - business or elsewhere - and make your point effectively.

Epsom Speakers Club meets from 7.45 - 10.00 p.m. on the first and third Monday or the month from September to June, and on the first Monday of July and August at Bourne Hall, Spring Street, Ewell, Surrey KT17 1UF.

Why not visit us at Epsom Speakers Club? Come along to a meeting as our guest for one or more 'taster' evenings to see what you think.
